Covid-19 (Coronavirus)

We recommend groups follow the advice from the Government and the NHS to help prevent the spread of the Coronavirus. This advice is constantly being updated.

One of the most important actions volunteers can take is to ensure they wash their hands with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds (about the time it takes to sing happy birthday twice).

10 years of People Helping People with Christchurch Portsdown

The Christchurch Portsdown Good Neighbours group recently celebrated a decade of providing acts of kindness to their local community.

The group's AGM was followed by a birthday lunch and a rather special Christchurch Portsdown Good Neighbours themed cake - Volunteers shared in the celebrations, with a massive thank you to group Chair, Sheila, as she stood down from a tremendous ten years at the helm, everyone then welcomed Pauline who will be taking over this important role.

Facebook, Websites and the digital approach

With a mission to promote all things digital this year  - groups are encouraged to activate and use platforms from Facebook to websites, there will be training and guidance offered to groups throughout the year and the data shows that Good Neighbour groups already using these tools to recruit volunteers have had a lot of success.

There is a new resource accessible from the Learning Cloud to help your group set up and get the most out of a Facebook page.

Additional resources will be developed throughout the year, complemented with some useful touch points and a workshop at the Annual Event in the Autumn.

Here is a link to a free website provider some Good Neighbours groups are successfully using.

We do recommend giving it a go as these are excellent ways to promote your group and attract a diverse volunteer team, it is also an interesting way to engage with a younger cohort of volunteers (grand child ) who can help with the set up and maintaining a presence on social media.
